DescriptionHere's a little gem I recently found. A production sketch done by Jeff Smith for a promotional Fone Bone pvc figure for the defunct Hero Illustrated, Wizard's main competitor in the 90s. The thing is it comes unsigned. But it was sold by a former Hero illustarted editor. I managed to cross reference what he told me through online researcg, with A.Mangels as well (thanks Andy!). I had him certify the authenticity of the piece on paper as well. The main fact is we all know how Mr Smith has always been very regarding to everything Bone so it would make sense that's been drawn by him. And why would he sign something that was intended for production purpose? The sketch was later given to said editor who already had it in his hand (unsigned). The 3 bigger views are blue and grey pencils while the 2 smaller sketches are tapped on for reference. I could not be more delighted given how rare it is to find nice Bone art. Perfect to celebrate Bone's 20th b-day as well :)Social/Sharing |

Jeff donated ALL his Bone art to the university of Ohio I believe. Not to many other pieces out there.

This is especially cool considering how rare it is for Jeff Smith's Bone artwork to be out there in the wild. Neat story behind it too!

To say this is a gem is total understatment as we rarely get to see Jeff Smith Bone art anywhere! If I'm not mistaken his entire Bone works were passed on to a museum, so finding Bone related art is quite the rarity. Love the story behind obtaining this one Jason. It's a keeper! Congrats.
