DescriptionThis is the study for Conan Saga #1 done in pencil and ink by BWS in 1987. The background is actually a stat that's floating over the original artwork in a frame.Here is a BWS quote I found about this piece on his website: "I consider this work my definitive Conan. The strange background edifice and the mystical decoration are hallmarks of my early Conan comics stories. The figure itself commands potential for violence, rather than actually swinging a blade or smashing somebody to pulp. I have always preferred the heroic figure in repose or guarded repose: it is the classicism of all mythical figures." A prelim? wow that is really an incredible piece of art. BWS Conan Saga covers are amazing and imo the best Conan art Barry has done to date. Congratulations on catching your grail piece and bringing it home.
