DescriptionHoward Nostrand Black Cat Mystery Comics #48 Complete 5-Page Story "The Lonely" Original Art (Harvey, 1954). This classic zombie story features a murder at sea and everlasting friendship. Johnny kills our narrator multiple times, but eventually learns the true power of friendship in a twist ending trademark of pre-Code horror. Remarkable for its deft simplicity and grisly humor, the story has been reprinted numerous times across multiple decades. Ink and white paint on Bristol board in twice-up scale with image areas of 12" x 18". Minor margin chip to Page 1, whiteout, toning, and handling wear. The detail of decaying flesh on his feet is killer. Very striking splash! Big congrats!

Beautifully grotesque! We get all the zombie decay in the title image that works to turn he stomach!

There is a Howard Nostrand hole in my collection. Congratulations on wonderfully filling one in yours. This is a beautiful example of his work. Great layout filled with nice figurework and actually tells the entire story within this single title page.

Great intro for a horror story. The first panel splash fits well with the title!
