Very early Breed piece, basically before the comic started, so concept art.
Standard 11.5x17.5" Marvel art paper
Published in the Art of jim Starlin by IDW

As far as I can find, this is the only Breed piece that ever came to the market... There are no pages or anything either here in CAF nor in HA...

This piece was an illustration for a planned prose novel by Starlin, before Jim decided to make it a comic and the character's eventual depiction as a demon with horns. Love it!

There are significant differences between this image and the one I hold in my hand, which is signed, and definitely original art.

Yes, correct, there is a second version which was sold at Heritage in 2016. But that was not the one published in 'the Art of Jim Starlin' book - this one is. Easiest to see at the wound of the monster - the Heritage one is very different from the published one - but there are more differences. This one is in pencil and ink.

Love the level of detail on everything, but especially the monsters and the stalagmite structures. Congrats and thanks for sharing this!
