Description

Bernie is the author/artist of The Jam. A comic book that will hopefully be reemerging soon. Bernie also did a brilliant three issue story line of Matt Wagner's Grendel. I commissioned a Grendel piece by Bernie and as usual he gave me more than I asked for. He calls this piece "...a fake cover. [#16 from an alternate universe where I had 10 issues to tell the story instead of three.]"

At first all you think you are looking at is just a man sitting in his kitchen but there is more going on beneath the surface. On the table are the beginnings of his self created Grendel costume and even though the setting is a brightly lite room the angle is so dramatic it gives you a dark foreshadowing of what is to come.

To get a commission from Bernie is always a great experience. The work involved in this piece is mind blowing. Creating just the rug alone must have been a maddening process.

How nice it would be to see/own one of the actual originals from this forgotten Mireault Grendel classic. A vast improvement over the Christine Spar storyline that preceded it.
