Description

My favorite splash page from one of my favorite Marvel story lines. A very horny Hulk finds out that Betty Ross is having dinner with a celebrity in the city and Hulk is going to show her what a real man is all about.

In an effort to contain him Hank Pym has cupped his hands over the Hulk and tells him to shut up because "You're giving science a bad name."

This page is the best example I have ever seen of showing the grandness of Giant-Man's size. Rather than filling up space on a page with the one character to convey size, Hitch placed us at eye level from a distance to see him against a building giving us a familiar perspective. The effect is tremendous and gives the page a big "WOW" factor.

I love this page.

I agree on all counts! However... this view also underscores how nearly impossible it would be for him to move around without crushing someone! ;))

So great... SO great, for all the reasons you mention. The "shot down the city street" is one we've all seen a million times, in a million different contexts - but usually "real world" ones; postcards, news footage, newspaper or magazine articles... By setting this fantastic scene in that context ("Is that... a GUY?!!?") it really causes a wonderful little explosion in our brains, juxtaposing the "real" and "unreal".

What a great splash page! Hitch's use of scope and scale really elevated comics, IMHO. Congrats!!
