Description

Reed Crandall and George Evans : Classics Illustrated #23 Oliver Twist, 2nd Edition (Gilberton, 1961). Image area 12" x 18". George Evans provided Gilberton with artwork for many fine classics adaptions in the late 1950s. "Romeo and Juliet", "Lord Jim", "In the Reign of Terror", "The Three Musketeers" and "The Buccaneer" to name a few.
Sometimes Evans worked with Reed Crandall as well (see "In Freedom's Cause").
George Evans died on 22 June 2001.
