Description

Drawing on his days at Haverhill High School, Bob Montana pitched a comic strip featuring high school students to several publishers with no success. When Montana took a job with MJL in 1941 he put his idea into action creating Archie. Montana drew the first issue of Archie in 1941 and continued to draw the Archie dailies and Sundays until his untimely death in 1975.

Montana�s style is so streamlined that it calls to mind Howard Hughes� insistence on �flush rivets� in The Aviator�there�s not one misplaced pen or brush stroke.

The ole hermit by timid, woodland creature ratio is a rustic 18 x 5.25 inches.
