My favorite piece of Don Rosa art! Took four years to complete the deal but am happy to finally add this one to my collection. Depicting a Carl Barks classic story this one is special not just for depicting the opening scene to raiders of the lost ark which Lucas borrowed from Barks, but as I’m from the southwest US, I love the depictions of the Beagle Boys as conquistadors, the treasure with Native arrowheads, the Mayan idol, and the ancient Cliff Dwellings of the pre-Puebloans. Treasure. Adventure. Danger! This is what makes Barks/Rosa stories great! Originally published as a pinup in Picsou 332 in 1999, it has been reprinted as cover and pinup numerous times.
