DescriptionPainted cover to Batman Annual # 9 by the great John Totleben. I picked this up years ago and have been meaning to post a pic and to get it framed as well. The previous owner I wish had not sat a book on it but still a great piece I am proud to own. The seller played up the fact that this was (at the time) the only cover to have Bats crying on it....Social/Sharing |

Nice one, Brian. I love Totleben's art and this is pretty unusual, can't recall ever seeing the comic either. Do you think Bats was crying due to the book's weight?;)

I don't know if Batman was crying because of the weight of the book but the front Batman looks like he just got his breath back from maybe the book laying on him! ;P Brian, This Is an AWESOME Painting!!! This should look great framed! Another Fantastic addition to your collection.

I've alway admired this cover, even though I had no idea who was behind it. Congrats on getting such a memorable, historic cover !

Nice, I can't believe you held off posting this masterpiece! The closeup in the lower left is my favorite pose (book-squishing aside). Great emotion!

I honestly can't say I remember this one, but, nevertheless, WOW! Anything else "tucked away" we should know about?

Brian, I felt bad about buying your Totleben Swamp Thing when I heard you regretted selling it. . . that is, until I saw THIS! MUSEUM QUALITY!

Sat a book on it...Jesus wept. Some people. Still great to see.
