Nice focus by Ploog and Chiaramonte on the varied types of characters on the page. They are all convincing under the horror style that was really popular and perfected here.

"The Night of the Laughing Dead" 2-parter was Gerber at his most... Gerber. Ploog did an exceptional job taking Gerber's mad ramblings about the ghost of a clown using supernatural powers to force a cast of characters, including "the bog that walks like a man," to perform a play about the clown's tragic life story for "the Critics," and made it one of the more memorable reading experiences of the 70s. Off-beat Marvel madness at its finest!

Talk about daddy issues...Heh, what a perfectly bizarre Man-Thing page. I always dug how it would veer from typical superhero-style battle stories, to these wonderfully bizarre, abstract stories. And I love how Ploog did this composition. Excellent score. Congrats!

Great story. The opening panel draws the reader in, but it's the final panel that's really clever. The background scene is in light, but the foreground, with Man-thing and the altered cast of characters, is in shadow. It really makes it look like the characters are waiting in the wings, about to enter the stage and take part in the play. A nice sense of drama from Ploog.
