Description

Observers of my gallery know that I am a big fan of the Liberty Legion. To this day I still believe that they could've been Marvel's version of the All-Star Squadron BEFORE there was an All-Star Squadron. Yes, Roy Thomas created both groups, but the Legion was published first when they were featured in 2-issues of Marvel's anthology comic, Marvel Premiere. Unfortunately, they never graduated to their own ongoing series.

That was a lost opportunity, because it would've given Marvel a chance to reintroduce their mostly obscure stable of Timely heroes to a new audience. And maybe, just maybe, we would've gotten to see a story where Timely's two best-known speedsters -- actually their ONLY speedsters -- go up against each other to see who's truly the fastest. And if they got to raise money for the war effort while doing so, well that's just win/win.

It's certainly a story I'd like to see, and since Marvel won't make it happen, I decided to make my own glimpse of what such a story might look like. To do that, I turned one of my go-to artists for so many outstanding commissions I've collected over the years: the great Val Semeiks! Val's many credits include such titles as THE DEMON, LOBO, WOLVERINE, DC ONE MILLION, and much more. I told him what I wanted and he made it happen. Really, it was that simple.

You can't go wrong with a Val commission. Hit him up for one today!

And who'd win in a Whizzer/Hurricane match up? Hopefully, one day we'll see -- even if I have to make it happen myself.
