DescriptionI never read many war comics as a kid, but one time on vacation I came across a whole pile. What was I going to do, ignore them? Most of the stories read pretty much the same to me, but this cover really stood out. It was horrific, but not gruesome. And so artfully composed! It really resonated with me. I was hoping to find this cover in the wild someday and am grateful to have it in the collection. Social/Sharing |

Sounds like this one found its home - cool to see so many Easy Co names and faces!

Completely agree on how interesting and well-designed this piece is; and love that such a meaningful piece found its way to your collection. Art karma!

Very powerful cover! I was drawn to the usual, beautiful Kubert lines, but what I really like is the names of all the soldiers. Very emotional.

Really great that Kubet draws in the names as desperate as Rock seems to carve them with time running out.

Fantastic cover from the master. It tells a story all in itself.

I truly great example of a pretty much forgotten genre done by one of the genre's master. Congrats.

Grim but as you say not gruesome. Seems as if it has an overlay? If so, I'd love to see a pic without the overlay.

No overlay, but rather there are original stats of the title/logo, as well as the carved names of Easy Co. I should upload a better pic.

Wasn't a huge War comic fan as a kid either but man, the Kubert covers always caused me to stop and take a look, crack it open and look inside - even if it didn't come home with me. This is so good! Congrats!!!!

Phenomenal page! Sgt. Rock was one of my favorites as a kid. I always appreciated how Kubert never looked away from the horrors of war. He tried to keep it real and authentic. This cover, with Rock carving the names of his team into the wooden pillar, is very moving. I love Kubert's style, he was so good at anatomy and he handled every detail from clothing to ammunition belts with precision and accuracy. Great pick-up, congrats!
