Description

Solomon Grundy physically outclasses Superman on this simple, yet powerful cover by Jose Garcia-Lopez. It's a classic!

My big sister got a copy of this book when it hit the newsstands back in '76. She refused to let her destructive little brother ever read it. Well, guess who doesn't get to touch the original art? Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Shout out to Phantom Restoration for the top notch stat work on the header. Not only is it technically well-done, but Phil knew that DC covers of the era had separate stats for the CCA mark, as well as the issue's number and price, and duplicated them perfectly!

That revenge on your sister may be even sweeter than the art itself, but not by much! What an absolute classic banger of a JLGL Superman cover, and with Grundy - too cool! Congrats on this great addition!

Love that Bi-Centennial banner to show the time period! Superman is All-American and inspiring to the other heroes! Grundy having the upper hand shows that it's never just a cake walk when fighting for your ideals.

Just a fantastic cover - the scale of Grundy and the details throughout make this a double knock out cover! Stats look great too.

A magnificent Garcia-Lopez composition. The viewing angle makes the distant cityscape so small, exaggerating the sense of Superman being knocked out of cover. And you have to love a Grundy appearance, especially with that horrific sneer. Your sister had excellent taste, and this is a wonderful acquisition for you.
