Description

Done at a Wondercon in the late 90s when it was back in Oakland. He was sketching. I asked how much, but I couldn't afford it back then so I just gave him a BATMAN book to sign. Bernie did this sketch on the inside cover on his own. I asked if he needed any money for it. He just smiled and said no. I thanked him and this sketch will always remind me of that smile across the table. I would collect other Wrightson art over the years, but this is the one that I appreciate most.

I have yet to meet a Wrightson Batman drawing that I don't like. Awesome!

This is a great story. Thank you for sharing it. I've been to 100 comic book conventions in my life, and met so many wonderful creators. The one artist I love that I never got to meet was Bernie Wrightson. Every single person I've ever spoken with that met him has told me how kind and gracious he was in person. You have a treasure here! Enjoy it.
