DescriptionFrom a rare appearance in the Bay Area back in 2001. May not be as fancy as others, but signed to me which takes it to an A piece for me. I like how he stylized the "M" in my name.Social/Sharing |

What a great personal memento. Just having his name and your name on the same piece makes it so much more of a special keepsake.

Special piece! In many ways, George was our Captain.

When the art enters our heart, it becomes a grail. When the artist changes our lives with their art, they become GIANT's RIP George Perez

What a good-lookin' Cap. Fitting for the heart of gold to draw a heart of gold for a heart of gold.

I typically don't get my art personalized, but as there are exceptions to every rule, I did get my two Joe Kubert commissions personalized. There are some artists whose work means enough to me that that I knew the piece would mean more with a personalization. Kubert passed away not too long after I got my commissions and I was right, the personalizations made the pieces feel that much more special. Like this Cap piece George did for you and personalized it, my Kubert pieces are not A-List pieces on the open market, but they're most definitely A-List pieces in my heart, where they're valued most. I'm pretty sure the same goes for you with this piece.

It's a perfect iconic Cap image, and the fact that not only is it personalized, but he stylized the M as you mentioned, is wonderful. It's a small thing like that which seems to show the care and attention he put into everything he did for the fans.

George always drew Cap with a commanding presence, this piece being no exception.

Seeing how Cap by legend Perez landed next to and seems to be looking at Batman by legend Adams in your Most Recent Additions row brought a tear to my eye. These heroes come alive in the hands of masters. Thank you for sharing the images.

Just terrrific you were able to get this 20 years ago! I remember seeing Ron Lim in the bay area back in the early 90s but not many other artists.

This is gorgeous, Marcus. I find the power of this piece to be not in a depiction of grim battlefield determination, shouting orders and directing action, but in the power and presence of the man himself, much like it was with George himself. A beautiful tribute to the passing of a beloved legend, whose reach will far exceed his all-too-short time with us. Thank you, Marcus, and R.I.P. Mr. Perez.
