Description

I first heard about Blacksad through the Tim Sale message board. It was this French comic that I'd never heard of but it was spoken of with an incredibly high level of respect and a huge appreciation for it's artist, Juanjo Guarnido. The original US version was out of print by this time so I wasn't able to read the books until the Dark Horse edition of the first three albums.

I wasn't even through the first album before I was hooked. The stories are great and the art is phenomenal. If you haven't read Blacksad, do yourself a favor and go pick up a copy.

Juanjo attended his first US convention this year at Big Wow 2012 and I have to give thanks to Steve Morger for going out of his way to make this sketch possible. Also, thanks to the denizens of the Tim Sale boards for introducing me to a great work I might otherwise have overlooked.

Congrats on this, Nick! Big Wow is in my backyard, but have not been able to go the last couple of years because of other commitments. Especially regret this last one because of Guarnido. Real gem you got there!
