DescriptionI discovered Patrick Jones a few years ago and it took me back to all my fond memories of falling in love with Frazetta's fantasy art when I was young. It was love at first sight with Patrick's dark style, voluptuous women, and fantasy violence.A few naive conversations with the artist himself, and I realized that my dreams of owning one of his original oil paintings were tens of thousands of dollars away. I put those dream son hold. Fast forward to November's Comic Art Live and Foggy Bottom put this amazing piece of art up for sale. This beauty went straight to my forever collection and headed to the framers ASAP! It's a large 15 x 23.5 pencil sketch. A study for The Devil's Gate. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful sense of anatomy with a pose that shifts the weight of the hips for balance with the outstretched arm and sword. It shows Jones' attention to detail and study of the human anatomy to make these subtle and natural poses work.

Thanks Gregg. As I always say, validation by you based on your collection and taste goes a long way with me. I agree I have seen several others, which were less expensive, but this one really stands out to me.
