It turns out this piece or at least a part of this image was used for promotional purposes. The image appears in DC Direct Currents #69 to promote the upcoming Lobo series.

Great looking piece ! It may have appeared in the LOBO GALLERY book produced at the time, but I'm not sure...

I think Val is such an under rated artist. I love this cover!

This is an awesome Lobo piece, unpublished or not. It isn't in the '95 Lobo Gallery (I just checked) and I have never seen it before. It is probably exactly what you think it is, an unused cover around 2 & 3. Still a great piece tho!
