DescriptionThe stinkers take out Bernie, but Samurai-Jesus on horseback saves the rest of the new group in this action packed page. Don't worry fans, I'm sure Bernie will be back sans sunglasses and mustache in future WD issues to terrorize the settlers of Alexandria.Social/Sharing |

R.I.P. Bernie. He will be missed. Such heroism in his struggle.

When I first saw Bernie on the cover of #127, I knew the Walking Dead was raising the bar of comic books to an entirely new level not seen since Watchman. I sat on the edge of my seat, holding my breath as I opened the comic and read of Bernie's amazing adventures from page 1-6. He was the strong silent type, but you knew while reading that this was not some regular "red shirt" character, this was Bernie-maybe the best written and illustrated character in the entire Walking Dead universe. When I reached this page, page 7, and saw how Bernie sacrificed himself so that his friends could live...well all I can say is there wasn't a dry eye in the room. So my friend cherish this important page, because each generation has it's heroes to inspire them, and we were lucky enough to had Bernie. RIP

No simple speech can do Bernie justice, I am just a mortal man who looks at such greatness in awe and can only attempt to place his sacrifice within the context of literary grandeur. Upon my search within the bosoms of history I think of authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald, for his famous line "Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy." rings true to my shaken soul. Or perhaps I might choose something more contemporary among those still standing on the shoulders of giants. “Death is a bored clerk, with too many orders to fill. There is no reckoning. No profound moment. It creeps up on us from behind, and snatches us away while we shit.” ― Joe Abercrombie, The Heroes Bravo Bernie, Bravo.

I had to put the issue down after Bernie's death, Kirkman really has gone over the line this time. I thought Glenn's death was dramatic, but this.....no words
