Description

Superman is a stat, rest is original art that was cutout and pasted onto a second board. My theory is that the cover was originally drawn without superman, then the editors decided to have him added, so they cutout the original and moved it off center to make room for the man of steel. If anyone has thoughts on it I'd love to hear about it.

6/15/14 update - I added the original Superman art by Nick Cardy that is on the shazam 1 cover as a stat. This is a great example of how posting to CAF can lead to great art finds. The collector who had this art contacted me after I posted the Shazam 1 cover and we eventually did a deal that landed me the art! Note that I think there may have been some minor changes to Superman's face on the published cover.

This was 8 year-old me's favorite comic. I traded my cousin 3 early Star Wars issues (a big deal back then) to get it from him. Thanks for sharing!

I loved this when I was a kid! I've been wondering where it was and I cannot tell you how pleased I am to finally see it show up on CAF.
