DescriptionEven though I didn't ever read Cerebus back in the 80s, it was a prominent book in all the comic shops and comic discussions. So when this End the Lockdown Cerebus art drop happened here on Comic Art Fans, I couldn't help myself and I bought a page of comic book history.During the event I was introduced to Gerhard as an artist, I had only ever heard Dave Sims in relation to the book. and learned of his amazing backgrounds and he shared how their process worked once he came to team up with Dave. Dave doing the main characters on a. page and then Gerhad would fill in the rest of the page. The comment was made by others that Gerhad brought depth to the pages when he joined. I found this page and though it doesn't have our hero, I found it to be a fantastic example of Gerhard's work. The tone and atmosphere are fantastic. You can tell it's night time by just the hatching and lighting effects without seeing the night sky. The detail is fantastic, to include interior wallpaper inside the open door. Dave would have done the silhouette in the foreground and Gerhard added everything else. Proud owner of a super cool piece of art that stands alone as beautiful piece of work. Social/Sharing |

I love this!
Thanks Ben. Comments seem hard to come by these days, I'm glad this struck you enough to say so.

And proud you should be! This is a gorgeous example of the work of one of (if not "the") pre-eminent "illustrators" in the biz. The INCREDIBLE detail and cross-hatching here - to say nothing of the architectural command - is dizzying. The detail you can see through the doorway and inside the building - the wallpaper, even! - just blows my mind. Who does that? And this was a MONTHLY book. Unbelievable. I missed out on all the incredible pieces from the "End of Lockdown?" sale this time around, but I hold out hope that one day I'll be able to have a piece by this creative team that is as nice as this one. An awesome example of Gerhard's work and a testament to his talent. Sincere congrats on this beauty!
