DescriptionI was a Rom kid. I had the toy, the comics, and the ridicule of my older cousin for being a fan of a super hero with mittens for hands. I defended Rom with my every breath. This character holds some of my favorite comic book memories and until now I’ve never owned a page from the series. This cover is huge for me and it checks two big boxes. Frank Miller is my all-time favorite artist, Rom is one of my favorite childhood characters and as fate would have it my first Miller and Rom piece is the cover of Rom Spaceknight issue #3. It wouldn’t seem possible to add any more icing on this cake but it is also finished by one of comic’s greatest inkers Terry Austin. The angle of the action just pulls you in and the layout allows all of the page to be utilized. The coolest thing is as the Dire Wraith descends through the portal he twists until he is facing the direction he is falling. The motion is so natural and is only drawn with the most minimal outline of the character. Miller didn’t have to add this motion but just that small creative touch adds so much more to the event. The second picture is with the mylar overlay completing the published image. I’m so thrilled to have this. Social/Sharing |

Super Cool! Never got into ROM but Sal did a great job coming up with his look. Miller's composition on this page is killer. Love how the guy who is shot falls away into nothing. Congrats!!!!!!

Wow! As a huge Rom fan too (got the whole run with money from my first job!) I'm both envious and happy for you! Miller REALLY knocked this out of the park- and this image was also used in the Marvel Universe handbook! Austin's inks are so tight here- at the top of his game! If you ever needa kidney, this is what I'm asking in return.

Wow!!! Not only The Best Rom Cover by far, but by The Master!!! This has all the Miller touches that one would expect of a Grail! I would be a Tad more envious if I did not Already own my Own Miller Grail!

Love hearing when a collector acquires a true grail--the intersection of nostalgia and artistry is what makes comic art great, and this piece checks both boxes in a huge way. Congrats!

A really nice cover (makes you want to buy the issue!) and what a treat to find so many favorites tied to it! Congratulations.

A tremendous composition by a Master in his prime. As observed by everyone else, the twisty-limbo-banishment-falling bit is the best part.

Not your expected subject matter, but the composition and poses are Miller all the way. And oh yeah, Terry Austin doesn't suck either.

WOW! Beautiful cover I was 18 when the Rom toy came out. Along with that butt ugly but cool Alien figure that was pulled from the market. Of course I had the $$ and thought of buying a few of each and never did. They were both very expensive toys at the time.I really dug the series. A cross between Gort of the Day the Earth stood Still/ a hero cyclon vs Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Crossed with a touch of Alien in there as well. I just wish Hasbro would let Marvel buy Rom back. To bring him back in the comics/ rerelease hard cover versions of the first series/cross overs. And mainly to use Bill Mantlo/Sal Buscema/Steve Ditko's stories for the movie. Just wish they'd only do three great movies too. Anyway congrads!
