DescriptionWolverine & The X-men #11 (Vol 2) pages 15 and 16by Chris Brunner Marvel Comics - December, 2014 This issue featured art from several wonderful artists drawing The X-Men mourn as one of their own is finally put to rest. As a reporter digs further in Wolverine’s past, what will be uncovered as the X-Men retell their favorite personal adventures and Wolverine stories. - Marvel.com I'm a big fan of Chris' art and super excited to own these two pages. Chris stated on his blog, "i do stupid amounts of research because im a stone-cold dum-dum. but new yorkers would know bs drawings of new york. people notice, it matters. Latour set this story in Tokyo- that required homework. after (a stupid amount of) researching, i decided to have Storm and Logan get off the subway at Shinjuku Station, and walk east to the Golden Gai district (music/bars), then on to the Kabukicho district (red-light) lookin for trouble. if i got that wrong, well, my fav artists were Gaijin (Studios)." "drawing is hard, but it's fun when there's an excuse to OD on detail. also when you get to draw butts. i checked with Jackie to make sure Logans was plump enough. it wasn't." Chris did quick prelims, then layouts digitally, then pencil and inks traditionally. Chris also did some overlays by hand on the back of the boards. The blue you see on page 16 is inks from the back of the board which I overlaid digitally. Also have to note the amazing color work by Rico Renzi and have to give a shout out to Terence Hoskins who has some killer work from Chris and I believe helped some with this 3 page story. 6/17/2016 - I was able to pick up a two-sided pencil prelim page from Chris Brunner at Heroes Con 2016! Image added in the 'Additional images' section. 6/15/2018 - Excited to see these pages were also published in the Chris Brunner + Rico Renzi art book 'The Kids Stick Together'. Social/Sharing |
