DescriptionSo I finally have filled the spider shaped hole in my collection. I wanted an ASM piece for a very long time and wanted to find just the right one. This splash fits the bill perfectly as it has spidey in action swinging on his web, a great background with luscious inks and is solidly in the bronze age. As a fellow CAFer told me "Leonardi is an artist's artist." I couldn't agree more. Dave Simons on the inks did a great job here as well. Leonardi only worked on a handful of ASM books in the early 1980s and I'm privileged to get this prime example of his work on the book. I sold a bunch of pages to bring this piece into my collection and now that it has arrived I couldn't be happier. Originally published May 1982. Enjoy, and special thanks to Yoram for remembering my interest when time came to sell.Social/Sharing |

Richly detailed, moody and with those lush Simons inks…this splash is a winner, congrats!

This ASM page is FANTASTIC! Also - it's well-worth tracking down a copy of THE COMICS JOURNAL #75 (Sept. 1982). This issue features an article written by Jan Strnad titled "My Brilliant Career at Marvel" in which he details the torturous behind-the-scenes creation of this issue.

A beautiful page with silky smooth finishes. Looking at Leonardi's art here and on the first issues of Spider-Man 2099, it becomes very difficult to understand why he was never chosen as a regular and long running artist on the Amazing Spider-Man. Rick is a true talent that stands with the best. Big congrats!

Love the details including the lit swoosh effect of his swinging right foot.A really sinister and inviting splash.

Very cool title splash. I like the lettering, nice Spidey shot too, but man that castle background is killer! Congrats!
