Description

Do I have an obsession with Hurst? Maybe! This Hurst illustration was used on the cover of Saturday Home Magazine for January 11, 1947, with a small change prior to print. The sprig of holly pinned to the gentleman's lapel was changed to a red carnation, presumably because the publisher felt the holly was too Christmasy and that mid-January was too late for that. Hurst also executed a very similar illustration 4 years later for Senior Prom Magazine which I have included in the additional images.
