DescriptionI am trying to figure out where to start on this one. So I will start with how I came to acquire it. As some of you know, I purchased an original Predator: Dark River cover from Miran some time ago, and she kept my email address. Since that purchase I only heard from her a couple of times as to what she was up to and if she had new art for sale.I had no idea she recently got a well deserved opportunity to do a retailer incentive cover for the upcoming release of a new Crow story arc. I only learned of it because Miran sent me an email. I sent her one back saying that I thought the cover was awesome and left it at that. Next, I get an email back from her saying it is for sale. I did think about it for a short while to determine if the piece belonged in my collection and decided it did indeed belong. For the longest time, I have been looking for a suitable Crow example and missed out on a back cover done by O'Barr that another collector was selling. Bummed out, I didn't know if I would ever get a second shot and boy did I get quite a second shot. This cover is cool for many reasons. First, this is the first time that I know a child has been given the mantle of "The Crow". There has been an adult female Crow before but not a child. Second, it is cool because Miran did it. She has the knack for hitting home runs when doing comic cover art. Third, it looks like the area around the child Crow's eyes is painted as Eric Daven's was. Forth, I get the bird included on the cover!!! Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing piece, but I am still on the look out for a male Crow example just like I have male and female Black Panther examples. I also want to share Miran's back story on this cover from an email she sent me: "I have been a friend of James for many years and I was working for IDW at the time when I found out they were doing new original stories for the Crow. So I pitched to do a cover for one of the books. That's it!" Two more things. First, I want to point out that the art is 11x13, on 140 lb water color paper, created in January of 2013, and is composed of the mixed media of acrylics and ink. Second, my thanks go out to Miran for emailing me and being so easy to deal with and as helpful as an artist could be. Update 11/9/2013 - Miran was kind enough to send me a copy of the comic book in the mail. Thanks Miran!!! Social/Sharing |

Absolutely gorgeous Crow cover by Miran Kim! Haven't seen this before, but it's really quite lovely. I adore the colors, with the deep blues of the sky contrasting with the tans and golds of the land. So interesting that Miran included butterflies and rainbows along with the crow in the child's hand. And that transparent, bubble-like image of the moon floating overhead is insanely cool. This is a knockout cover, congrats!
