Description

Commissioned from Ian after Armageddon Auckland.
We eventually settled on Miracleman after running through a few options of British heroes. And the most obvious scene was Johnny Bates, Kid Miracleman's gory rampage through London.
With all of that, a few reference pics and a request for the piece in his 90's style, Ian came up with this... I love the working of Death's ankh into her own "Miracle" costume, the tears of Miracleman and the quiver of his arm. I wanted a pose where it was a bit ambiguous about whether Miracleman was going to hug Johnny ... or do what he actually does in the story.
The pencil work is stunning - I think their inherent rawness and roughness suits this piece more than crisp, clean inks could.

And the pants - that's all Alan Moore. Look it up!

Awesome detail! I love Churchill and his changing style, but I always loved his 90's style because at a time when so many artists were working from the same mold, it meant something when somebody's work looked extra clean, had that special extra spark to it. This is stellar!
