Technically not comic art - but I finally own an original production cel from an animated film. So I had to share it.

I've been a fan of Ralph Bakshi's work for a long time. He's made some of the most important animated films in the 20th century. He proved that animation doesn't just have to be for kids and made by Disney / Warner Brothers. His films are true works of art for an art form which is sadly becoming extinct.

Even though Lord of the Rings isn't my favorite Bakshi film (although in some ways it follows Tolkien's original story better than Peter Jackson did)- this scene is incredible for many reasons. This is an image that was tributed in Peter Jackson's adaptation and in South Park. Nothing beats the terror in the Hobbit's faces and the sinister looking Nazgul.

The fame didn't just attract me as well - moreso was the characters. The Nazgul are among my favorite villains. Ghosts cloaked in Black that cannot be killed (except in certain circumstances) and will endlessly hunt for the One Ring immediately got my attention when first watching Fellowship of the Ring. So I'm super happy that I got a great piece of art that depicts them on their hunt.

The genius of Ralph Bakshi has never been recognized as it deserve. You've got a great piece of a key moment of the amine. Thanks to share it !
