Description

Oaky Doaks debuted in 1935, created by writer Bill McCleery and artist Ralph B. Fuller (1890-1963). Oaky was 2 years ahead of Prince Valiant, but he was not a prince, just a farmboy, who fashioned a suit of armor from the tin roof of a shed. Our hero was a good-hearted lad, even if not as skilled in battle as he�d like to be. Princess Pomona, shown in the lower strip, and Oaky were later married - in fact, toward the end of the strip run, they even had a son.
A comprehensive collection of Oaky Doaks is long overdue.

Provenance: Heritage Sunday Auction 2007. The strips were sold as a pair.

You have a fine and interesting collection of Oaky Doaks-strips - congratulation!

Ralph B. Fuller was a really good comic-artist.
