Description

Early Shredder artwork is extremely rare, appearing in only a handful of pages in two issues, #s 1 & 10. I have a few great Shredder pieces, including the first drawings of him.But I didn�t have any actual story art that included him in my collection. So landing this full splash from my favorite issue�?! I�m over the moon. Classic Eastman & Laird art on duotone art board. And personalized from Peter Laird to fellow TMNT artist Steve Lavigne (who lettered this issue)

And a neat bonus on the back of page are a few light rough prelim drawings of potential poeses for this page. Ultimately, the middle draft was selected and the rest is history. This image of Shredder would have a lasting legacy, being used for various promotional purposes, as well as the design being modeled for the wonderful Sideshow statue. Most recently it was used as an alternate cover for the current IDW TMNT series, �Shredder in Hell�. That book came out earlier in 2019 which means this piece is still being used some 32 years later!
