DescriptionNot your average (these days) "Dirty Harry" Batman, nor the psychedelic or the cartoony one... Paul Gulacy's vision of the caped crusader is unique!Slick and smooth, but no less impressive, as is fully demonstrated in this action page where another in a long line of hapless goons learns it's best not to mess with the man in the bat-suit... I love the way he dominates the situation with only the minimum stance and gesture! Social/Sharing |

Paul's pencils, at his best, were almost too tight, so I keep on using the brush to make sure I kept a degree of life to the art.

Dear Charles, Thanks a lot for your kind comments! I have yours and Paul's (and Doug's) pages in front of me as I'm writing this and I understand what you mean about using the brush. Paul has always been so great on coregraphy that every panel looks like an illustration in itself. Bringing the sequential life into it surely was an interesting challenge! I have been lucky enough to find a few pages of the Batman/Outlaws arc, some years ago, and they've spent most of their time with me framed and displayed on my walls, so high are the energy levels on these great pieces of art. I'm happy to see that you have fond memories of this period and I thank you again for sharing them with us! It's true the "Fans" in "Comicartfans' is not a wasted word! All the best and keep the good stuff coming!
