DescriptionAmong the myriad of talents that crammed page after page of DC's mistery line, I think the work of Gray Morrow tends to be overlooked... There's a certain logic there, when so many big names, either already established or on their way up, enlightened the clever stories in House of Mistery, House of Secrets, Witching Hour and al...Even then, I feel the stories Gray Morrow contributed there are, not only his personal peaks, but are also easily outclassing most of the heavyweight competition (... Don't mistake me,I like them too!). I think he succeeded in combining his classical figures in the most outrageously psychedelic layouts you could dream of... Jedediah, the story that appeared in House of Secrets 90 is both a perfect example and a huge favourite of mine! That's why I could not choose between 2 available pages... and snatched them both! An anthology of his work from this period would do him justice, I believe! Social/Sharing |

Agree totally about Gary Morrow's mystery comics work for DC during this period! He also did beautiful Rose & Thorn and El Diablo stories in this period. Good stuff!

Good stuff! You're right to widen the perspective, Mark! Obviously his El Diablo and Rose & Thorn are very commandable too! I think that if we add his Zatanna and the cream of the crop of his Red Circle stories, we've got all the contents for a massive, long overdue, Anthology! Any publisher around to volunteer?...
