Description

The opening sequence to X-men TAS is one I've always remember because I watched the show so many times but never noticed some weird details about the villains in this cel drawing. From left to right the characters whee: Magneto, Juggernaut, Warpath, Mystery Green Alien Guy, Pryo, Mystique, Sabretooth & Avalanche.

First question I've always had is why is Warpath (Thunderbird) on that side? When Larry Houston (designer of the credits) claimed that there were too many heroes on the left side and not enough villains on the right, Warpath was thrown in for balance. Many fans speculated that the show was going to make him evil but that was never the case.

Second, who is the green guy with the bald head next to Warpath? Again, Larry Houston said the bald guy was a mistake by AKOM (the animation studio) that they wouldn’t fix and who he may have been meant to be has long been forgotten. In fact, his face is covered up by Pyro's hand for the entire sequence!

Great piece, Tommy, and meaningful for so many of us X-Men TAS watchers! And it’s great to hear about some of those tidbits of production! They just kinda left some random character there?! Ha! Congrats!
