Description

Yes. This NOT a Nova cover. But it does have special meaning. In 1969 while on a family vacation in northern Michigan my dad bought me my first comic book.I was 6 years old at the time. It was Incredible Hulk #118 which featured a classic battle between The Hulk and Sub Mariner. My dad remembered the Sub Mariner(or The Sub "Mareener" as he called him),from when he was a teenager. I liked the cover for The Hulk,as I was on a huge monster faze at that point of my life. I was unfamiliar with both characters,but must have read(or looked at the pages back then),a hundred times that summer.

There were other comics that followed,mostly on vacations,but I never forgot my first! I still have the comic,beat up and cover less, so I commissioned the amazing Brian Balondo once again to get me a NEW cover. Brian did an amazing job capturing the essence of the original,including the hand drawn masthead and corner box.

Very happy with this. Thanks to Brian for another great commission and some great memories of days gone by.

Update: Finally finished coloring this.I used the same colors from the original and really had to lighten the line work to color it. Still haven't figured out how to give it a distressed look. Lot's of bubbles here.
