Posting this one in memory of Alan Grant, who would've been 74 this month.

Alan Grant wrote comics. If you grew up reading DC Comics in the 90's, like I did, you've probably read some of his stories. Aside from his runs on Detective Comics, Batman (main title), Batman: Shadow of the Bat, he wrote ( or had a hand in) all the major Batman crossovers, including Batman/Judge Dredd, Batman/Spawn, Batman/Lobo and Batman/Daredevil. He was THE Batman writer in the 90's.

He was also the writer for Lobo, he worked on the Demon, L.E.G.I.O.N., he wrote Superman versus The Terminator. He wrote a lot of comics. If Alan Grant was the writer of a series you knew it was going to be good or at least interesting. I was a big fan.

How this piece came to be...timing is everything. I was already on Val Semeiks commission list when I heard Alan Grant had passed. By pure coincidence Val contacted me a week later and told me my spot had come up. I had the Green Arrow/Speedy piece in mind, but something changed. I wanted something different, I wanted a Alan Grant piece. Val, who worked with Alan on Lobo and Demon, agreed to do it. I left it all up to him. He said Alan was a friend and he wanted it to be perfect. I think it came out great. I couldn't have asked for a better piece.

Batman, Robin, Anarchy, the Demon, Belial, Lobo, Jonas Glim and Judge Dredd all pay their respects to the man who wrote their stories.

Wow, this is a very moving, emotionally charged piece, Ceasar. You certainly made the right choice in allowing Val to just do whatever he wanted to. This is instantly one of my favourite commissions in your collection!

Beautiful tribute to Alan Grant who was a talented writer and set the bench mark for so many great comic characters! Really fitting that Val Semeiks who worked with Alan on multipe DC titles like The Demon and Lobo was the one to do this piece.
