DescriptionGRAIL PIECE.NYCC ’15. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Honestly, just stare at that for a while. I mean… Huh? Wow. That’s mine? Whaaaaat? Now that that’s out of the way: thank you, Olivier, for a commission on a level that’s just… unreal. I never thought I could own something like this. Olivier worked on this at home for a few days a week before NYCC on 14x17” paper, a mix of pencils and watercolor. I know of one (magnificent) Rogue that’s here on CAF, but still… Coipel doing this kind of elaborate commission is unheard-of and I can’t believe he did it for me. So again: thank you, Olivier! As you can probably tell, I’m still flustered looking at this, but I’ll try some level-headed words about the piece. But the most level-headed I can get is: EVERYTHING IS PERFECT. The right-side background of Manhattan with Spidey swinging across the skyline, the left-side background detailing Felicia’s cat-burgling exploits (Museums! Glamour! Money! Cats!) and that Black Cat. Dude. That’s gotta be one of the prettiest things ever put to paper. It reminds me of top-of-his-game Milo Manara. Maybe it’s even better… Anyway, I hope you all enjoy looking at it as much as I do. And I know I’ve said it a million times already, but again: thank you, Olivier. I’ll always owe you a beer ;) Social/Sharing |

I've owned a ton of Coipel pieces over the course of my collecting and I'm very familiar with the majority of his work. That being said, this is my favorite work by him because of the creativity he used in the layouts and the rendering of all the different elements. Huge congrats!!

Many many good elements performs in this beauty: Spider-Man far away in a Manhattan skyline, three purrrrr-ing cats, money all around, the Sphinx, a broken angel and one of the sexiest and beautiful Felicia ever penciled. Yes, it's a Grail!
