Description

After spending too much on Golden Age Comics at Baltimore I decided to swing through Artists Alley and see if anything struck my eye, there sitting off to the side at an end table was a young man furiously drawing-- beside him was a stack of drawings he had completed that weekend.

He had a handmade sign which read "I will draw you anything for $5"

Over on the pre-drawn pile was another sign "Already Drawn $2"

He was working on a Batman sketch cover-- I asked him how the show was going, he told me it had been busy. He showed me the Batman piece he was working on and I flipped through his drawings, picking out this sweet Hawk Man and plunked down his asking price plus a little bit more. He said he didn't know if he could make change and I told him to keep it-- and he smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up.

Highlight of the show. Having this framed and put up on my studio wall alongside some Marshall Rogers, Jack Kirby, Will Eisner and Bernie Wrightson pieces.
