DescriptionJACK KIRBY and DICK AYERS - Strange Tales #84 "The Wonder of the Ages!!! Magneto!" story page 8 Original Art (Marvel 1961) This story is widely touted as introducing a "Magneto prototype" character (Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide). An unemployed strongman volunteers for an experimental space flight and returns to earth with magnetic powers! This story preceded Fantastic Four #1 by six months, and the first appearance of X-men frenemy Magneto by almost two-and-a-half years! As any true believer knows, many of the concepts later used for the Marvel super heroes were developed in the pages of the earlier "pre-hero" monster stories. This "prototype" Magneto has the name and powers of the most famous of the X-Men villains, who made his debut two years later. This twice-up page has an image area of 12" x 18.5". ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Questa è una tavola molto particolare, un cosiddetto pezzo "pre-hero", cioè prima della venuta dei grandi super eroi della Silver Age Marvel. Ovviamente l'impronta del grande Jack Kirby non potava mancare, famosi i suoi "mostri" di questo periodo storico! Un uomo molto forte e disoccupato si offre volontario per un volo spaziale sperimentale e passa attraverso una nuvola radioattiva anti-materia e torna sulla terra con poteri magnetici! Questa storia ha preceduto Fantastic Four n. 1 di sei mesi e la prima apparizione dell' X-Men Magneto di due anni! Come ogni vero credente di fede Marvel sa, molti dei concetti utilizzati successivamente per i supereroi Marvel sono stati sviluppati nelle pagine delle precedenti storie di mostri e fantascienza "pre-hero". Questo "prototipo" di Magneto ha il nome e i poteri del più famoso criminale degli X-Men , che fece il suo debutto due anni dopo. Altra analogia la possiamo notare nei poteri di Hunk, che derivano dall'incontro con una nuvola radioattiva anti-materia durante un viaggio spaziale, proprio come nei Fantastici 4 appena sei mesi dopo! Un'altra Kirby !?! :) E questa è importante anche da un punto di vista "filologico". Confesso che non conoscevo questa vecchia storia ed è davvero interessante per tutti gli spunti poi chiaramente utilizzati nella creazione di F4 e X-Men. Complimenti!

True Kirby prototype pages are incredibly rare and you have a great example here.
