Description

THIS was the very first Lolly strip I collected! The man in this strip is Quimby's son, Junior. Loves girls, booze, and his teddy bear, not in that particular order. He, Lolly, and Quimby, Sr. were the only three characters that appeared in the entire run of the strip (1955-1983). As the times changed, characters came and went--Lolly's grandma and little brother, Pepper, who lived with her in the beginning, vanished by the end of the '70s (Pepper went around the mid-60s), leaving Lolly as a totally single girl (except for her French poodle, Muggsy, introduced much later in the strip).

Even as the times changed, Hansen kept the look of the characters up-to-date: notice Lolly's miniskirt and hairdo! Also changing, The original size of this strip is 5 x 17 inches. His earlier strips are 6 x 20!

Thanks for sharing. I heard about Lolly while researching comic strips; it is quite a read. Many of the 1970s strips with the office setting remind me of Dilbert.

It's sad there aren't any reprint books of Lolly.
