Description

Okay. Here it is.

What you are looking at is the result of a LOT of sacrificing off of my collection. But... SO worth it.

Wildstorm will always be the home of my favorite characters of all time and when Mike and Jason told me they had found this, I couldn't have been more excited.

SW: TA was my favorite book during the "Eye of the Storm" phaze that Wildstorm was going through. It was "the Boys" before "the Boys"; a bunch of pissed off humans that hated "superheroes" and would do anything to put the ones out of line, back in step. With the help of like minded "super" individuals, they doled out their brand of justice. While violent and chock full of vulgarities, it was not offensive like "the Boys".

I can't read that shit.

One of Jim's MANY, MANY mistakes was not finishing the storyline when the writer Micah Ian Wright outed himself as a liar and fraud in regards to his outspoken military career. While what Micah did is inexcusable, what Jim did to the fans is worse; he canceled the best book in his stable and screwed the fans. He could have easily had Micah finish the job with no pay. Or, at the very least, had someone else finish it. Seriously, how does firing Micah make up for anything? Does it really save face?

ANY-Ways... Back to the art!!

What we have here is a cover quality TEAM shot by my main man, Jason Pearson of my favorite group of WILDSTORM heroes!!

Are you kidding me?!?

From left to right;

Jukko - empath; his country's attempt at creating a superhero; he can feel the pain of anyone/everyone within a 4 to 5 mile range.

Tifibi - resident tech/gadget genius.

Flint - impenetrable skin and superhuman strength (she got those scars from the Aliens in the stellar "Wildcats vs Aliens" one shot).

Galena - sniper that has a libido as phenomenal as her shooting ability, and that ability is quite large.

Santini - BEN Santini. One of my ALL time favorite WS characters is the leader.

Jaeger - the weapons guy. A lot like Grifter, only with no conscious.

There you have it. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears later? Another WS grail in the collection.

Thank you to those who have bought art from me this past year and a half, and thank you to Jason and Mike for making this possible.

THANX, everyone.

Wow! I have no idea who any of these people are, but this is just an incredible Pearson example! Love all the detail in the brick wall and the underlying debris. Congrats and Happy BIrthday bub!

Thanx, Eric!! Can you believe I finally have it?! It is a lot to take in. The piece was originally finished digitally and Jason filled in the stark blacks at my request to make it "pop" a little more. You'll see what I'm talking about when I post up the other images.

Thanx, Mike!! Oh... I'm enjoying it all right!! Only prob' is that the board it's drawn on doesn't fit in my portfolios!! Sux 'cause I'd like to be able to to put it beside my Wetworks cover. "Details, details"... I know.

Hey, Fred!! Yep. It was published in "Coup D'Etat: Afterword". Cover is dated... wait for it... MAY in 2004. It's the centerspread. It's a very cool book full of great pin-ups by some of my favorite artists and even has two short stories in it. I'll be posting up some "additional images" soon.

Happy Birthday E, and this is an epic piece! I can see why you wanted it so bad! Well done!
And I agree that blindly canceling the series after Micah got "caught" was a real injustice to fans. This was a cool Wildstorm series.

Hey, Dave!! Thanx for the comments, man. Not sure which is worse... canceling the book or having a fans hopes brought up only to be shot down. Lemme explain... In the last relaunch of Jim's books, there were these really, really cool back up stories with some really cool creators taking care of them. One of the back up storylines was about finding out what happened to Team Achilles. !?!?!? AW, yeah!!! (not so much) While they did resolve it... they didn't resolve it. Know what I mean? Very, very poor execution. HUGE freakin' let down. Owning this helps the pain, though. ;)-
