DescriptionPainting measures 13 1/2 inches wide by 19 inches high. Signed "F.Frazetta 50" in the upper left corner on canvas board. The back of the painting is written on with a black conte pencil(?) and titled, "Bride of Kong". It appears to be a painting study with more detail attributed to the face. The photo is not the best and details such as the painted lips of the figure are not fully captured. The figure's lips are painted and then a red paint is applied over top to show that lipstick had been added to the Bride, but not perfectly as parts of the lips are not fully covered in the red. Kind of almost a circle of red to the lip on the bottom and then over the edge of the lip on top. The bottom of the figured remains mostly un-worked and has a slighter more thicker impasto feel to it.The item was purchased from a dealer that was representing a seller who had inherited several paintings from his Uncle's estate in 1986. He had said that his Uncle (an artist) and Frank Frazetta were both friends during a period of time. The seller has asked to remain anonymous, however his Uncle's name can be provided if anyone is interested in provenance on this piece. Social/Sharing |

That's a lovely painting. Much more realistic proportions to the woman than Frazetta's later trademark style.

I can't believe there aren't more comments about this. Possibly the earliest known Frazetta painting(at least as an adult)! The signature looks good to me. Very interesting.
