Description

I love small character moments. They're the beating heart of the stories that mean the most to me. Especially when it comes to the work of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.

In all my years collecting the work of this dynamic duo, those are the pages I've always gravitated to. Given the choice, I go after moments with palpable emotion rather than a shot of the hero in costume. As a result, I never made it a priority to get a page with Batman from Long Halloween or Dark Victory.

I did find my way to this splash though.

While not from those more prestigious projects, for my money, you'd be hard pressed to find a better representation of Tim's Batman. Bathed as he is in dark pools of ink, this page is all mood and atmosphere, deftly aided by Tim's mastery of positive and negative space.

Quite simply, this is Tim Sale at the height of his powers.
