Description

I had a odd space near my comic book themed man cave and pondered how I could fill that space. After much thought, I came up with the idea of a commission. I had not commissioned any art since the early 1990's and even before then I had commissioned less than 10 pieces. The theme of this commission was going to feature Marvel characters as they looked in the late 1960's. There was only one artist who in my opinion could capture the flavor of old school Marvel. I commissioned Ron Frenz via Scott Kress of Catskill Comics to pencil 32 Marvel characters onto 3 boards. For several characters, Ron captured the style of certain artists on the books at the time. Can you identify which artists? It took a while to receive the commission, but it was completely worth the wait! I would not hesitate to commission Ron for another 32 characters. Thanks to Ron Frenz for an outstanding piece of art and to Scott Kress for facilitating.

When I first saw these on the Catskill site my jaw dropped. Very jealous over some __excellent!__ art.

Pt. 1 "Avengers Assemble"! Well, technically The Falcon was not an Avenger in 1969,but eventually. Love the clean shaven Hercules! Awesome!
