Description

A piece I have always admired since first learning of its existence in 1994, penciled by the great Jack Kirby way back in 1976 and inked by the equally prolific Joe Sinnott.

For me, the team of Kirby and Sinnott were never better in capturing the stoic emotion of two of Jack's greatest creations...the sullen, almost sad-like expression on the face of Ben Grimm and the focused, serious demeanor of Captain America!

Where are they? Why are they running, where are they going? Why are these two Marvel-age heroes, rarely appearing in the same story-line, sharing the same page? With beautifully drawn "pin-up style" image sizes so large and perfectly rendered, a "complete piece" from a genius collaborative team!

Image size approximately 10" x 11". Originally commissioned for a fan named "Steve Clement" in 1976 who sadly passed away in 1977. The drawing was maintained with Steve's possessions until such time that it was acquired by another collector some seventeen years later and published as the cover to "The Jack Kirby Collector", Issue #2 in November, 1994.

My expressed gratitude to fellow collector DF for the opportunity to acquire this masterpiece as I know it wasn't easy for him to let it go. I am honored to be the current caretaker of this museum quality commission and it is my pleasure to return this gem to the Comicartfans web-site for all to enjoy.

That's pretty awesome. One of my favorite Kirby sketches that wound up being published as cover in the excellent JKC magazine. Wonderful.

Two dynamic Kirby heroes chiseled in glorious ink by the mighty Joe S. I of course have all the JKC magazines and remember this illustration vividly. Top notch addition to the family of art****

Wow!  This is iconic.  Kirby's two greatest creations...on one page!

I love the melancholy look on Ben's mug, "Sheesh!  I gotta save the world again.  Yer interruptin' I Love Lucy on TV!"
