Description

Gray Morrow painting of a girl and serpent. I'm not sure where this one appeared. Matted, not framed. Image size, 18" x 24". Condition: excellent.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1934, Gray Morrow became known for his work on Galaxy, IF, and other science-fiction digests. In 1964, he became one of the regular artists for the Warren magazines, Creepy, Eerie and Blazing Combat. In the 1970s and 1980s he worked for DC, Marvel and Archie Publications, and on syndicated strips Rip Kirby, Prince Valiant, Big Ben Bolt, Secret Agent X-9 and Friday Foster. He illustrated the Buck Rogers strip in 1979, and the Tarzan Sunday comic strip from 1983 to 2001. In the 1990s Morrow worked for Rip-Off Press, Dark Horse and Hamilton. One of his most celebrated works was the 1978 trade paperback graphic novel, The Illustrated Roger Zelazny. He was nominated for Hugo Awards for his artwork in 1966, 1967, and 1968.

Owned this years ago - it is cover done for a graphic novel collection of a series gray did that ran in Heavy Metal and other venues - was never used as the cover but was run in black in white In the book version of the series
