DescriptionSince I started collecting original art and commissions I have always been impressed by likes of CAF members Aidan Lacy,Roy Johnson,Will Cox,Damon Owens(and others),and their ability to create stories behind the commissions they have had done. I'm going to switch gears for awhile from Nova cover recreations to continuing the original Nova series the way I would have done it back in 1976-79.I'm going to take points in-between issues where there was a break in the action and start a couple new story lines(trying to keep in continuity with what was happening during that era),featuring guest stars and villains that I would have liked to have seen in the book. This first chapter(Cover) takes place in-between Nova #11(Nova big battle with The Sphinx) and #12(Nova's first meeting with Spider-man) The cover features Cobalt Man(One of my favorite Hulk/Defenders Villains),and Nova's(Richard Riders) three friends,Bernie,Ginger and Caps) A synopsis of the story can be found below. I went back to the basics for this cover using Eric Koda,who had done one of my first Nova cover recreations. Eric really took this to the next level providing colors to go with pencils and inks. I really like the newsprint(dots),style he used in the digital colors,and the looks on the faces of Nova's pals,very cool. Chris Ivy provided the cover logo's and text for this and did another outstanding job. I hope to keep this theme going for as long as I can. I think it's fun collecting commissioned art,but even more fun turning an Idea into a story and sharing it. I hope all fans of Nova,like myself with get a kick out of this stuff. Issue 11.1 Synopsis: After his hard fought(or beat down if you will)battle with The Sphinx, Richard Rider decides to go on a one day shopping trip with his friends Bernie,Ginger,and Caps. Bad timing it seems, as The Cobalt Man picks this day to return form the abyss(He seemingly perished in Defenders #43). With no memory of his battle with The Defenders,he comes back looking for The Incredible Hulk with a "mad on". After a heated battle(Nova uses his speed and Cobalt Man's strength against him),Cobalt Man is taken down. Nova finds himself surrounded by a cheering crowd,but suddenly turns to a scream for help. A dozen feet away lies the broken body of Nova's girlfriend Ginger Jaye trapped beneath some fallen debris! To Be Continued........ Next Issue: DOOM! Social/Sharing |
