DescriptionJim Lee. Batman. Hush. This one has some sentimental and nostalgic value for me. I still remember when Batman: Hush was released and I was still in college. Not having much money as I wasn't working I was unable to pick up the single issues. My friend who was also an avid comic book reader kept encouraging me to do so as it has all the popular Batman characters in the story and the art by Jim Lee simply kicks ass. Fortunately, although I missed out on the single issues, the trade paper backs were released and I picked them both up. The image on the TPB covers had been vividly embedded in my mind since then as those 2 were the only 2 TPBs I had in my book shelf and I must have read them a dozen times. Fast forward about a decade, I was introduced to the world of original art collecting and CAF. I wasn't collecting big published arts right-away so it did not cross my mind to look for the arts that have sentimental value to me. I was just collecting arts that look good to me. I was buying arts from Tim and I came across this in his gallery. It took me back a decade. I still have the book with me, although not in its prime condition any longer but I still love it. I was hesitant at first to inquire because I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. It's Jim Lee's art, it's Batman, and it's from Hush series. Hush had stood the test of time. It's proven to be a popular story line and loved among fans. They made animated movies based on it and also tons of merchandising/toys/action figures based on its art. I was simply intimidated. But then I thought if I didn't dare myself to ask I knew I would regret it forever. So, I sent Tim a message. I knew it was a long shot and turned out it was, as I didn't hear back from him. I thought "What was I thinking? Of course it will forever be in his vault". However, months after, I heard back from Tim, saying that he was not ready to part with it but with a magic number he would consider. Lucky for me I had the magic number available and managed to bring this home. I also collect comic statues/figures and just recently XM Studios, celebrating 80th year of Batman, released a statue based on this image. I was beyond excited and of course I had to get one. Now I am displaying both the 2D and 3D counterpart of this magnificent image. Big thanks, Tim! I will be cherishing this one for a very long time! :) Social/Sharing |

Impressive would be an understatement. Love the art way more than how it appeared on the cover of the tpb.. as the sepia look here adds so much more (better?) Mood to throw piece. Love the use of white spatters and the washes are fabulous! Huge Congrats!!

Thank you. What you said is one of the reasons why I'm more often drawn to mixed media pieces as opposed to the traditional pencil/ink arts. They are definitely more aestheticly pleasing.

Incredible! Any HUSH page is a treasure but a TPB cover is other-worldly, congrats!

Thanks. I'm glad I pulled the trigger. Not sure I'd get another chance if I didn't.

Ah, thanks for the kind words. Yes, it makes me very happy to be able to display them together. I didn't think I could get the art but now I have the 2D and 3D form of it together in one place, it warms my heart :)

Jim Lee is so damn talented, and I absolutely love when he steps outside the normal fare. This is a fantastic example of that. Wow.
