Description

This cover is prop art from the 1955 Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis film "Artists and Models." In the film, Jerry Lewis's character is a budding writer of children's books who is obsessed with The Bat Lady comic book. Dean Martin's character is obsessed with attractive comic book artist Abigail Parker (Dorothy Malone) who draws The Bat Lady comic. Shirley MacLaine (in her second film role) plays Parker's roommate who models for her friend in costume as the Bat Lady. This art appears printed on comic book covers throughout the film, and this actual painting is displayed on the wall of comic book publisher Mr. Murdock's (played by Eddie Mayehoff) office. Sorry for the glare in the photo. This painting is beautifully framed and on my wall. Attributed to Paramount studio illustrators Arthur Camp or Neil Wheeler.

Believe it or not, I found it on eBay doing a serch for Martine and Lewis comic art. As I recall, I was the only bidder.
