DescriptionAl Williamson needs no introduction: what superlatives I could add here have already been given to him a million times, and quite rightly so!...I always felt he gave his all to the Secret Agent Corrigan strip (obviously superbly scripted by Archie Goodwin). To me, comic strip is the hardest, most demanding form of storytelling: 3 panels only to recap what happened before, to make the story progress and to hint at what will happen tomorrow,... and all of this on a daily basis! It takes extraordinary talent to be able to pull it out. Happily, Al Williamson and Archie Goodwin had talent in spades! I mean, look at what is, after all, only a transition strip, catching Corrigan between two assignments. This could be perfectly banal, but then, there is THAT moody, rainy atmosphere (and, oh, what a linework!). Add some clear-cut characterisation and, before we know it, we're on board of the plane to Kalipur! Who wouldn't follow? Certainly not me! Social/Sharing |

Beautiful strip, Al: even if it were not yellow with age it would understand perfectly that it has passed into legend of comicbook spy-stories.. Best Compliments!

Actually, I kinda love that yellow, the tint of vintage, as you say! Even though the picture makes it appear yellower than it actually is...

Great strip from the master Al Williamson. He and Goodwin were perfect for both X9 and Star Wars. I love the rain and the Jumbo Jet.

Judging from all the comments, it looks as if everyone (including me!) agrees on how great the rain looks on that strip! Now, I sure wouldn't mind acquiring a Star Wars page of theirs, either...

Thanks Bill! I'm watching this piece on the wall in front of me as I write this... and it still brings me a sense of balance and serene excitement... A quiet masterpiece, crafted with such delicacy by 2 true masters of their art!
